The original invitation email from Jeff Hodge
Colleagues,
At some point over the last several months I have engaged your interest in the subject topic and you have expressed interest and/or a willingness to participate in exploring such an initiative. The core group to date includes key individuals from consulting, corporate vendor, law firm vendor, media, corporations, standards bodies and law firms. We now have what I consider a small brain trust of highly placed individuals with an interest in discussing the refinement of UTBMS (see http://www.abanet.org/litigation/utbms/home.html) to meet a growing demand for an international legal task code standard. While interest certainly runs well beyond those copied here, I think it best to explore the issues in a small group in order to determine (a) whether to launch a broad-based initiative, and (b) if an initiative were launched, how best to organize, grow and manage such an effort.
As you know, Legal Week™ is hosting the Global Legal Forum™ in Paris on May 12-13 at Le Grand Hotel. This seems the perfect opportunity for this small group of 15-20, and perhaps a few additions, to meet and discuss the topic. Legal Week has likewise expressed an interest in joining our meeting, with a view to giving it coverage and, assuming we move forward, maintaining contact with the group and covering any newsworthy activities on an ongoing basis.
I again invite your interest in this important topic and ask you to join us for dinner the evening of May 11th at 6PM, the evening before the conference begins, at the Le Grand Hotel in Paris.
During dinner we will present an overview of the topic and the challenges we are likely to face. Following dinner, we will engage attendees in a discussion of the issues and possible courses of action. I’d also like to stress that attendance at the meeting does not mean you will be obligated to assume any operational activities should we go forward. This session is purely exploratory.
Please confirm your attendance with an email or call directly to me. We will follow with details as soon as they are available.
I look forward to seeing each of you in Paris and thanks again for your interest in this very important topic. As always, your thoughts about the topic or how to plan and execute this meeting are greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Jeff
